Moving to Stamford?

Many of the tenants who use our storage services are, not surprisingly, moving house and need space to store belongings while they settle in, or wait to perfect their new home.

MoreStore Self Storage happens to be situated between the three well known and well loved market towns of Bourne, Market Deeping and, arguably the jewel in the crown, Stamford – so it’s no wonder many families move to the area.

Stamford is well known as the best-preserved Georgian town in the country, and has played host to a huge number of period dramas including the highly successful Pride and Prejudice film starring Kiera Knightley. It provides a wonderful historic backdrop made up of beautiful honey-coloured stone buildings, churches and bridges.

If you’re moving to Stamford then, you’re in for a treat. Aside from being a beautiful town, it was also voted Britain’s top place to live by the Sunday Times in 2013 (and we don’t think anything has changed since then!).

The architecture coupled with a thriving high street (with many independent shops, cafes, restaurants and retailers) and beautiful river walks are just part of what makes Stamford special.

The town sits next to Burghley House – one of the most impressive Elizabethan houses in England. Open to the public, Burghley House is full of history with extensive state rooms, gardens and a full diary of events for the whole family – all year round.

Not far from Burghley House is Barnack Hills and Holes National Nature Reserve. The Hills and Holes mark the site of an old quarry – where stone was cut out to build Peterborough Cathedral in medieval times. Today it is a site of Special Scientific Interest covering 50 acres – and, a much loved spot for families with young children to explore the undulating landscape.

Close by is Tolethorpe open air theatre home to the Stamford Shakespeare Company who stage a variety of plays in a stunning outdoor theatre at Tolethorpe Hall.

Back in Stamford town, you’ll find more on the arts and performance side of things at Stamford Arts Centre and Stamford Corn Exchange. And if theatre isn’t your thing, a leisure centre, museum and well known antiques centre offer much to educate and inspire. See the latest events in our blog post.

Why not ask us for a quote to manage your belongings when you move? MoreStore is just a ten minute drive from Stamford and the only local storage company with indoor storage accessible 24 hours a day.
